Professor Philippe EVRARD
Born in 1942 in Courcelles, Philippe Evrard graduated doctor of medicine at UCL in 1966. He specializes in Pediatrics and Neurology. He was appointed Chief Assistant in 1972, and in 1974, he became responsible for a unit of Pediatric Neurology at the Clinique Saint-Raphaël (Leuven).
In 1976, with Gilles Lyon, he founded the Department of neuropediatrics, succeeding G. Lyon, he was appointed head of Department of neuropediatrics at clinics universitaires Saint-Luc in 1991 until his departure in Paris in 1995, where he became head of the Department of Pediatric Neurology and metabolic diseases at hospital Robert-Debré (Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris).
Philippe Evrard was appointed Honorary Professor at UCL in 1997 and is a neurologist of note who specializes in Pediatrics and Neurology. In 1970, he was the creator and then the Pediatric Chief of Department of Pediatric Neurology at the University of Leuven and the neuroscience research unit of the same University.
In 1995, he was invited to create and lead a new service of Pediatric Neurology and metabolic diseases at University Hospital Robert-Debré (University Paris VII Denis - Diderot, Faculty of medicine, and Assistance publique - Hôpitaux de Paris) and a new training of research at INSERM in developmental neuroscience. Reached the age limit as head of Department in September 2009, he is currently a consultant and Chairman of the Endowment Fund Robert - Debré Paris Ile-de-France.
He is a member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and is a friend and mentor to Lionel Draon our Head of Clinical Studies Department for the Professional Bodyguard Association.
